![]() It feels like the Apple Animoji stuff, weirdly uncanny valley. But the brothers in the books seem fine). All the old clips have been replaced with CG faces attempting to lip sync (the scrying pool doesn't even try to sync. Perhaps the most jarring change is no FMV. The paintings to open the stairs in the library now have levers to pull, and the fireplace has a shutter you must move. (also worth noting movement getting to the tree while it's dropping was a big PITA, you have to be absolutely perfect in your motions to open the door, etc) There's some changes to the level design of Myst island (theres a grave stone across from the observatory/library) and the age I went into (Channelwood) had some level design changes around the linking book to get there. It struggles a bit on Quest 1 (high rez textures pop in when what you're looking at is practically touching your nose), but it's incredible being able to move around these spaces you know and love. Anna of course wired things up so that the book would fall near The Cleft, but it's unclear if Atrus ever found this out.) If it's just Myst, it explains how they're able to get the game out in little over a year of development, but this is the first remodel of the island since 2001, so it'd be nice to see more of it. As Myst 3 shows, paranoia about abandoned books is a good idea. (The reason for the security on Myst Island of course being that Atrus' closing lines in Book Of Atrus/the start of Myst indicate that he's paranoid someone - eventually The Wanderer - will find his Myst book. For example, Myst Island has an underground home for Atrus and his family which is accessed by taking the elevator behind the library downwards rather than upwards. My main worry right now is that this is going to literally just be Myst, with nothing added at all. Facebook moneyhatting is great when it's keeping a legendary dev studio open. are the best.įWIW this is, I think, the first non-Kickstarted new Cyan game since 2005! I suspect this project is the reason that they were able to handle their serious troubles with Firmament. Now go back and watch the trailer again and bask in the knowledge that you are truly one of the avids. And you've got to admit it looks pretty cool. But again for aesthetic resaons we are throwing caution to the wind and making it look cool. ![]() We know that tradition dictates that the linking panel should be on the very first page of a linking book. Uh, and one more thing we should mention. Please don't tell anyone and never ever do this yourself. So to keep an authentic aesthetic feel while maintaining compliance with DRC strictures we are taking artistic license and just changing this English text to the D'ni font. The last thing anyone needs is for you fanatics to successfully write a working book. ![]() ![]() While this language was understood by most D'ni as critical in creating an Age you should know that - much like D'ni heritage - the paths are many and varied.Īnd of course in adherence to DRC directive 213.4.2 we are strictly forbidden in revealing any actual text from a descriptive or linking book. As mentioned in the books the D'ni used a special writing dialect called Gahro Hevtee. We know that in Regestoy, or "The Art", that D'ni script is not traditionally used. We are too but as you can see there are a few things wrong with this trailer. If you are taking the time to read this we know you e digging into all things D'ni and are excited for the upcoming release. ![]()
